I’m Dr. Betyshia Belardo
A board-certified Family Medicine and Obesity Medicine physician, menopause specialist, and founder of CaliberMD
I am dedicated to optimizing the health and well-being of women, especially those navigating perimenopause, menopause, weight changes, and metabolic health concerns in midlife.
I built CaliberMD for women who have spent years taking care of everyone else and are finally ready to be cared for, too.
Throughout my career in Family Medicine, women would come to me exhausted, frustrated, gaining weight despite doing everything “right,” struggling with sleep, brain fog, changing hormones, low confidence, and feeling disconnected from themselves. What struck me most was how often they felt unheard. I also became increasingly frustrated with rushed, assembly-line medicine that left little room for deeper conversations, education, prevention, or truly personalized care. Too many women were being told their symptoms were “normal,” that weight gain after 40 was inevitable, or that they simply needed more willpower. I knew there had to be a better way.
This mission is personal for me, too. As a woman and physician who has experienced my own weight health and perimenopause journey, I understand how overwhelming and frustrating this season can feel. That is why I created CaliberMD: to offer a different kind of care for women in midlife. A place where women feel heard, seen, educated, and supported. A place where visits are thoughtful and unhurried. A place where your symptoms, goals, and story actually matter.
My path into Family Medicine came from a deep fascination with the connection between the mind, body, lifestyle, and long-term health. I wanted to care for the whole person, build meaningful relationships with patients, and help prevent disease instead of only reacting to it. Over time, women’s health became a major focus for me because I saw how deeply many women were struggling while still carrying enormous responsibilities at work, at home, and for everyone around them. My passion later evolved into a deeper focus on obesity medicine, metabolic health, and menopause care because these areas are profoundly connected and too often overlooked.
At the center of my work is helping women understand that they are not failing their bodies. Their bodies are changing, and those changes deserve a clinical explanation, not a character judgment. I am deeply invested in changing the conversation around menopause and weight health because, for too long, both topics have carried unnecessary shame.
At CaliberMD, my goal is to help women feel visible again. Not just symptom-free. Not just at a better number on the scale. But strong, confident, supported, and fully alive in this chapter of life.
Because life does not stop at midlife. And that mission fuels everything I do.
